NR(Natural Rubber) |
◎ Widely used in the applications of tire, shockproof, conveyer belt, footwear industry |
◎ Good elasticity; good wearing resistance; good bend resistance and crack-proof; good piercing resistance; good low temperature resistance. |
◎ Skid resistance, good tearing and tensile force. |
◎ Applicable temperature range: -50℃/-70℃~+120℃. |
◎ Disadvantage: bad oil resistance and ozone proof. |
NBR (Nitrile-butadience rubber) |
◎ The oil resistance of NBR products can be used in packings, oil seals, washers, gaskets, |
◎ Applicable temperature range: -35℃~+120℃(-30℉~+250℉). |
◎ Widely used in high temperature environment, immersion or condition of contacting fuel oil, gasoline and etc. If it is used in low temperature environment, the formulation needs to be adjusted. |
◎ Good oil resistance and heat resistance. |
◎ Compressibility, tear strength and wear resistance are better than most elastic objects. |
◎ Can adhere to fabric, leather and other materials. |
◎ Disadvantage: bad storage safety (especially in low temperature). |
◎ Bed ozone resistance, can mix with CR, Hypalon, PVC to improve this disadvantage. |
NBR+PVC |
◎ The compatibility of NBR and PVC is very good. When mixing both of them, their |
◎ Applicable temperature range: -35℃~+120℃(-30℉~+250℉). |
◎ The addition of PVC resin can provide multiple coloring match capacity and rather bright color. |
CR (Chloroprene rubber, Neoprene) |
◎ CR is the earliest developed synthetic rubber that is widely used in sealed products. |
◎ Good ozone and weather resistance; it will not deteriorate even exposed outdoor for a long time. |
◎ Bad resistance to aromatic series hydrocarbon or halogen hydrocarbon and oxidizing medicines. Resistance to other medicines is generally more stable than NR and SBR. |
◎ Good heat resistance, can be used for a long time within 110℃, when used discontinuously, its high temperature limit can reach 120℃, low temperature -40℃. |
◎ CR based adhesive has strong adhesive force. |
◎ Oil resistance is only less than NBR. |
◎ Non-pyrophorisity. |
◎ Since it has polarity group, its insulation is not as good as NR, IIR and SBR, but its advantages of weather resistance and oil resistance can be used in low voltage wires (lower than 600V) and cable protective layer. |
◎ Disadvantage: bad raw material rubber storage stability; cold resistance is not as good as general rubber, but the requirement can be meet by adjusting its formulation. |
EPM, EPDM(Ethylene propylene rubber) |
◎ EMP (peroxide sulfur vulcanization); EPDM (sulfur vulcanization). |
◎ Good ozone and weather resistance, which is better than CR and IIR. |
◎ Good age, water and steam resistance. |
◎ Good heat resistance. Some formulation can be used up to 150℃, it has quite physical property in low temperature; low embrittlement temperature makes it still has flexibility even at -55℃. |
◎ Applicable temperature range: -50℃~+120℃/150℃ (-60℉~+250℉/300℉). |
◎ Electricity resistance is better than IIR. |
◎ It is stable for polarity solvents (alcohol, ketone and glycol), rare acid and alkali, caustic soda and other inorganic medicines. |
◎ Disadvantage: bad adherence and bad oil and crack resistance. |
IR (Isoprene rubber) |
◎ It has nearly same characteristics as natural rubber, very stable. |
◎ Applicable temperature range: -50℃/-70℃~+120℃. |
◎ Good processability. |
◎ Uniformity, less coacervate, no foreign matters. |
◎ Less impure matters; water absorption, electrical trait, age and crack resistance are better than those of NR. |
◎ Transparent, bright color, good colorability. |
◎ Not necessary for heat preservation in winter. |
IIR (Butyl) rubber |
◎ Good air tightness. |
◎ Applicable temperature range: -55℃~+105℃(-65℉~+225℉). |
◎ Good insulation, chemical objects resistance, acid and alkali resistance; anti-oxygen, anti-oxidant; good ozone and weather resistance. |
◎ Disadvantage: slow stress relaxation speed, large permanent deformation, low fixed- stretch strength, bad elasticity, slow sulfuration speed, and bad miscibility with other rubber materials. |
◎ Good heat and age resistance, but high-temperature resistance is not as good as EPM and EPDM. |
◎ Slow sulfuration speed, high-temperature or strength accelerants need to be used, or prolong sulfuration time. |
SBR (Styrene-butadiene rubber) |
◎ The characteristics of this kind of material are similar to those of NR, though its heat |
◎ Applicable temperature range: -50℃~+110℃(-65℉~+225℉). |
◎ Uniformity, less foreign matters. |
◎ Good age, heat and wearing resistance. |
◎ Oil resistance is a little better than that of NR. |
◎ Disadvantage: slow sulfuration speed, large amount of sulfuration accelerants or strength accelerants need to be used. |
◎ Bad adherence. |
◎ Low elasticity, more motion heat. |
◎ Week tearing resistance. |
◎ Can be mixed with NR, regenerative rubber and etc. at all kinds of rates, which can make up for the disadvantage of SBR. |
BR (Butadiene rubber) |
◎ Good wearing resistance. |
◎ High elasticity. |
◎ Less motion heat. |
◎ Good cold resistance. |
◎ Applicable temperature range: -73℃~+120℃. |
◎ Good mixing capacity with oil or filler agents; even mixed in large quantity, the physical reducing rate is still small. In application, it is often mixed with SBR and NR. |
◎ Good processability, suitable for transfer or injection. But the raw material is rather difficult to mix. |
◎ Disadvantage: low tensile strength and tearing strength. |
Silicone |
◎ Silicone is very clean, and widely used in many food and medical products. It has good |
◎ Special material can be used for conductive and fire-proof materials. |
◎ Large range of applicable temperature; very little changes of electrical properties; tasteless and odourless. |
◎ Applicable temperature range: -50℃~+232℃(-58℉~+450℉). Very little changes of physical properties; its physical properties are better than general elastic objects at high temperature, even at low temperature it won’t lose elasticity. |
◎ Special material can reach the applicable range of -60℃~+250℃. PMQ and PVMQ have excellent cold resistance (-90℃). |
◎ Good ozone and weather resistance. |
◎ Except for solid silicone rubber material(peroxide cross linking), there is liquid (pasty) material, which is formed by the way of platinum cross linking, and can be used for formation under the condition of low temperature, and even indoor temperature. |
◎ Disadvantage: bad wearing resistance, anti-tension, and anti-tearing. |
◎ Bad medicines resistance, no acid and alkali resistance, and high price of raw material. |
FVMQ (Fluoro-silicone) rubber |
◎ Excellent oil/solvents/medicines/cold resistance. |
◎ Applicable temperature range: -73℃(-100℉)~+200℃(390℉). |
FKM (FPM, Viton, Fluorel) rubber |
◎ FKM O-Ring, sealed gasket material are widely used in the application environment of |
◎ Excellent chemical medicines resistance (as well as good fuming sulfuric acid, nitric acid and chromic acid resistance). |
◎ Resistant to most kinds of oil and solvent (except ketone and lipid). |
◎ Good weather and ozone resistance. |
◎ Applicable temperature range: -26℃~+205℃/230℃(-15℉~+400℉/440℉), the temperature range of discontinuous usage can be up to higher temperature. |
◎ Good electricity insulation. |
◎ Disadvantage: high price; the price of all-FPM is rather high. |
ACM, ANM (Alkyl acrylate coplolymer) rubber |
◎ Widely used in engine parts strip seal; high temperature resistance; the temperature |
◎ Applicable temperature range: -0℃/-30℃~+150℃/+180℃). |
◎ Heat resistance is only less than FPM and Silicone rubber; good ozone resistance. |
◎ Disadvantage: lack of elasticity, bad physical properties and high price. |
◎ Bad water and steam resistance; bad cold resistance; and bad processability. |
◎ ANM-type some-degree material has already improved these disadvantages of water resistance, cold resistance, processability, and corrosiveness of mold. |
ECO, CO (Epichlorogydrin) |
◎ Good oil resistance (not less than NBR), especially excellent resistance to halogenation- |
◎ Good heat resistance (between Acryl rubber and NBR). |
◎ Applicable temperature range: -51℃~+150℃(-60℉~+300℉). |
◎ Ozone resistance (as good as Acryl rubber and EPM). |
◎ High elasticity (not less than NR) and low-pressure permanent strain rate. |
CSM (Hypalon) rubber |
◎ No pyrophorisity; good weather resistance; good insulation; and suitable for outdoor |
◎ Applicable temperature range: -20℃~+150℃. |
◎ Good ozone resistance and good oxidizing medicines (nitric acid, sulfuric acid and chromic acid). |
◎ Can be mixed with other kinds of rubber. |
◎ Disadvantage: bad cold temperature resistance (-18℃ lack of flexibility); and bad processability. |
